Solution
The conurbation or federation of communities christened "Épernay, Coteaux et Plaine de Champagne", was officially founded on January 1, 2017, federating 50 municipalities, and 50,500 inhabitants, around Épernay and Vertus.
On January 1st, 2016, the metropolitan community's organizing authority for public transit awarded an eight-year contract to RATP Dev to operate its Mouvéo bus network, including six regular bus routes and a further 10 routes available on demand.
The public service contract was transferred on 2 January 2020 to Syndicat Mixte des Transports d’Epernay et sa Région (SMITER). The RDPC now offers a service to the municipalities of Aÿ, Dizy and Mareuil sur Aÿ in the Grande Vallée de la Marne conurbation. The Mouvéo urban transportation network currently consists of 10 regular bus routes, 10 on-demand routes, and one zonal route available on demand.
With 42 employees, the RDPC is a transportation provider that serves 57 municipalities in the Champagne region. As part of the contract to operate the Mouvéo network, it is also responsible for operating school buses, providing transportation for people with reduced mobility (Mobilibus network), and on-demand transportation.
"We are satisfied with the service continuity that has been provided by RATP Dev. Switching from the previous operator was not easy, yet RATP Dev pulled it off seamlessly for our city transit users."
